Type 2 Diabetes shows familial aggregation in all populations including the Pima Indians. The prevalence of diabetes is higher among offspring when either or both of their parents have diabetes. This has also been demonstrated in many other studies. The risk of developing Type 2 diabetes among the offspring is greater when the mother is affected than when the father is affected.
