A research team is set up at Provincial/District level. With inputs from the programme managers a health problem is identified, literature searched and collected, a hypothesis stated, research methodology defined, sample size and statistical methods determined, budget estimate set up and the final research proposal presented for funding.

In the following three to six months the research team conducts the study in the field (mostly their place of work) and comes back for the Data Analysis and Report Writing Workshop.
