Commentary
  • The general population does not face a significant health risk from methylmercury
  • Population groups in which predatory fish or shellfish otherwise contaminated, constitute a major proportion of their diet, are however at risk.
  • The damage of brain and nervous system is the most important threats posed by the existence of low levels of methymercury in the environment. The Effects of the ecosystem cannot be looked upon as an isolated problem: the synergistic effects of methylmercury with other environmental pollution must be considered.
