Registries- a database set up to contain information on individuals that have a certain device, procedure, or disease or are enrolled in a study.
Sentinel surveillance- a sample of hospitals and other medical facilities to solicit active data on adverse events.
Database of reports that are reported to FDA. These reports are mandatory (manufacturers, importers, user facilities) and voluntary (consumers, health care providers). The reports are on serious injuries, deaths, or malfunctions.
Other databases- other governmental surveys (NCHS), HMOs, Medicare.
