The O.G.E. receives data on P. falciparum malaria from the district levels, analyzes it continuously, and produces reports, as part of its surveillance activities.

The O.G.E. participates as one of the CDC-associated Field Epidemiology Training Programs, together with the Department of Public Health of the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia. The Residents may obtain a Master’s degree through their activities, after completion of further academic requirements.
