The published public health recommendations for physical activity do not seem to be associated with a high risk of injury and selected risk factors such as training mileage and duration are modifiable.

A tremendous need exists to develop and disseminate injury prevention programs targeted to moderately active adults.

In addition to these 3 papers, 2 additional injury studies using the same data source but different subsamples of the population have been previous published.
