For the 5-year recall period, we developed gender-specific lower extremity injury prediction models. For both men and women, risk of injury decreased with increasing age. In addition, for both genders previous injury and RWJ mileage >20 miles/week increased the risk of injury. Additional risk factors for men included RWJ experience 3+ years and moderate and high fitness levels. For women, risk of injury increased with increasing BMI. Previous injury was the most significant risk factor for men, while RWJ mileage was the most significant risk factor among women.
