The definition of injury we used for this study was any self-reported soft tissue or bony injury that caused the person to alter their activity level, see their physician or take medication such as aspirin. We identified 2 types of injuries: 1.) all-cause injuries were attributed to any cause while, 2.) activity-related injuries were attributed to participation in some kind of physical activity or exercise.
