I want to now turn to a more detailed evaluation of a country level situation of typhoid fever in the country I know best, Pakistan.
This is a picture of an urban slum in Karachi, Pakistan.  Karachi is the largest city in Pakistan with an estimated population of 11 million persons, 40% of them live in squatter settlements.  That is sewage and waste water, and those are the front doors of two households.
