Supercourse CD/DVD/Mirroring and Downloading

This page contains instructions to:
- Get all the current Supercourse lectures to run from your personal computer or burn onto a DVD
- Get the "light Supercourse" (1000 lectures in English) to run from your personal computer or burn to CD
- Set up a Supercourse mirror site on your server
- Get a copy of the Supercourse CD-ROM (November 2002 edition) containing the first 1000 lectures
Please note these guidelines for use of Supercourse materials
- They are for the personal use of individual scientists and shared without restriction among scientists and teachers, but cannot be sold.
- If one uses a Supercourse lecture, the author of the lecture and the Supercourse itself should be acknowledged.
- The content and its accuracy is solely determined by the authors of the lectures.
General information
You can download just specific lectures that you want from the Supercourse web site.
Newer versions of the zip files are uploaded every few months.
If you download Supercourse files or create a mirror Supercourse site, please register by sending your name, e-mail and country to: super1@pitt.edu.
In addition the links to external Supercourses make other lectures available(up to 400).
Please do not use lectures with numbers: 21241, 21311, 22231, 22711-22731,2357-23651, 23881, 24041-24051, 30831-30871, 31091, 31171 (25 lectures).

Get all the Supercourse lectures
Currently the whole Supercourse is about 3.1 GB in 43 zip files, which contain about 4300 lectures. It fits on a DVD.
To get the entire Supercourse, follow these steps. Please note that links to all the necessary files are included at the bottom of this page.
- Create a folder on your hard drive to hold the Supercourse materials.
- For a DVD, name it "Supercourse DVD".
- To work from your personal computer, name it "Supercourse".
- Copy the base.zip file to the "Supercourse" or "Supercourse DVD" folder.
- Unzip base.zip. Note that several subfolders are created, including one named "lecture".
- Copy all the lecxxx-xxx.zip files into "lecture" subfolder.
- Unzip all of the lecxxx-xxx.zip files.
Now you can either:
- Run Supercourse from the index.htm file in the "Supercourse" folder.
- Create a Supercourse DVD by burning a DVD which includes all the contents of the "Supercourse DVD" folder.

Labeling the DVD
You can label your DVD using this draft Supercourse DVD label:
For other partners, you can add your logo and explanation at the same size as ours or smaller. Please see this sample Logo for Ukrainian Edition.
Get the "Light Supercourse"
These instructions will help you create copy the "Light Supercourse" (1000 lectures in English, January 2009 version) on your personal computer or a CD. Please note that links to all the necessary files are included at the bottom of this page.
- Create a folder on your hard drive to hold the Supercourse materials.
- For a DVD, name it "Supercourse DVD".
- To work from your personal computer, name it "Supercourse".
- Copy the EnglishCDbase.zip file to the "Supercourse" or "Supercourse CD" folder.
- Unzip EnglishCDbase.zip. Note that several subfolders are created, including one named "lecture".
- Copy all the EnglishCDx.zip files into "lecture" subfolder.
- Unzip all of the EnglishCDx.zip files.
Now you can either:
- Run Light Supercourse from the index.htm file in the "Supercourse" folder.
- Create a Light Supercourse CD by burning a CD which includes all the contents of the "Supercourse CD" folder.

Create Supercourse Mirror site
To create a Supercourse Mirror Site, follow these steps. Please note that links to all the necessary files are included at the bottom of this page.
- Create a folder named "Supercourse" on your server.
- Copy the base.zip file to it.
- Unzip base.zip. Note that several subfolders are created, including one named "lecture".
- Copy all the lecxxx-xxx.zip files into "lecture" subfolder.
- Unzip all of the lecxxx-xxx.zip files.
Your "Supercourse" folder now has all the Supercourse files. Please use the index.htm web page inside of your "Supercourse" folder as the starting web page for Supercourse.

Mirror site updating
Once a mirror has set up, please check periodically for updates/new files. You can check the availability of new, deleted and updated files for Supercourse at this page. You only need to download those lectures which have been uploaded since the the last time you did an update.

Get the November 2002 CD-ROM
We have a limited number of Supercourse CD-ROMs (November 2002 edition with first 1000 lectures). If you would like to teach your students with this CD-ROM, please contact Dr. Mita Lovalekar (mital@pitt.edu) and let her know your affiliation and complete mailing address. We will send you a CD-ROM free of charge.
