What Pitt
students say . . . Q: How do I keep
up with the work load? A: Make sure you
do work everyday—that is the key.
Stay on top of your assignments because it is easier to do an hour or
an hour and a half of work a day than to be swamped at midterms and
finals. Also, look at the
syllabus!!! Don’t
expect all of the teachers to remind you when and what assignments are due. Q: How can I be
sure to manage my time as effectively a A: There are many
resources available to students such as academic workshops on study skills,
the chance to meet with academic counselors (located in WPU) as well as
student tutors; the writing center can be an effective way to pinpoint
solutions to problems more quickly. Q: What can I do
in class to assure that I absorb and understand the material? A:
Participate! This will
ensure that you are following the class discussion and paying attention. Also, if you can, print out PowerPoint
presentations ahead of time. That
way you aren’t scrambling to write down each slide while trying to listen
to the additional information the teacher has to offer. Academic Resources
