Hematopoiesis and Immune System

collection slide # label description
Hematopoiesis
Circ/Hemato 4095 Red bone marrow: human smear identify mitotic and post-mitotic cells:
erythroid line: proerythroblast, basophilic erythroblast, polychromatophilic erythroblast, orthochromatophilic erythroblast (acidophilic erythroblast or normoblast);
myeloid line: myeloblast, promyelocyte, early --myelocyte (some granules in cytoplasm) late --myelocyte (nucleus reniform, specific granules discernible -- eosinophilic granules most conspicuous), -- metamyelocyte (nucleus more nearly bilobed), band (stab) cells;
monocyte line and lymphoblast line difficult to distinguish from myeloid line.
megakaryoblasts and megakaryocytes
Circ/Hemato 6564 Human blood smear use as check on developing and differentiating blood cells in slide # 4095
CT
3291
compact bone decalcified: c.s.
try to identify hematopoietic cells in marrow -- look for islands of cells in same line of differentiation
