Club athletics are a unique entity within the student experience. They present the opportunity for students to be physically active, to compete through sport, to form friendships and connections with others, and to belong to something larger than themselves. For those individuals who aren’t cut out for the Division I level, or for those whose athletic pursuits lie outside of the athletic department, club sports are an ideal endeavor.
However, these club athletes aren’t afforded the same luxuries as their varsity counterparts; along with their on-field commitments, club officers are responsible for the all of the “behind the scenes” aspects that go into fielding a viable team. From dealing with league administrators, to managing finances, to recruiting new members, the price of being competitive extends beyond the playing field.
