~ The Deed ~

 

The Supreme Executive Council of the Commonweath of Pennsylvania

To all to whom there presents shall come greeting:

Know Ye, that in consideration of the services rendered by George Nace, private, late, in the Army of the United States there is granted by said Commonwealth unto the said George Nace a certain tract or parcel of land lying in the county of Westmoreland in the second district of the donation lands beginning at a post and deadtree the numbered corner turning south by Lot No. 179, two hundred fifty one and half perches to a maple then east by Lot No 1797, one hundred and thirty perches to an elm thence north by Lot No 1801, 261 1/2 perches to a post and white oak then west by Lot 1803, 130 perches to the place of beginning containing 200 acres -?- allowance of -?- percent for roads -?- numbered MDCCN.

To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with the appurtenances unto the said George Nace, his heirs and assigns forever. To the only proper use and behoof of the said George Nace, his heirs and assigns forever free and clear of all restrictions and reservations as to mines, royalties, quit-rents or otherwise, excepting and reserving only the fifth part of all gold and silver ore for the use of this Commonwealth, to be delivered at the pit's mouth clear of all charges. In Witness whereof his excellence, Benjamin Franklin, Esquire, President of the Supreme Executive Council hath hereunto set his hand, and caused the state seal to be affixed the fifth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty seven and of the Commonwealth the eleventh.

Best represented that I, John Irwin of Pittsburgh, merchant for the sum of six hundred dollars to use -?- in hand by James Duff the tract -?- whereof I do hereof acknowledge that -?- hath bargained -/_ and cleared by these -?- sell, release and confirm unto the said James Duff his heirs and assigns the above described tract of land testate in the second district donation land No. 1802 with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging to have and hold the said described tract of land with the appurtenances unto him the said James Duff, his heirs and assigns from him the said John Irwin, six -?- and -?- of them forever. In witness whereof the said John Irwin hath hereunto set his hand and seal the fifteenth day of December, 1803.

In presence of Allegheny County, before me one of the Justices of the Peace in the County -?- came John Irwin and -?-.
