As a native of Rochester, NY, I knew starting a new chapter in my life in Pittsburgh was going to be exciting. Being a part of the Vietnamese Student Association has been a main
part of my college experience. I have met great people through this Association, which I hope the new incoming body of students can experience as well. With this being my last year at the University of Pittsburgh I hope to leave with everyone knowing what VSA is about… Viva VSA!!!!

Co-President: Dorothy Cam

Vice-President: Matt Pham
Matt Pham

Although he was born in Philadelphia, Matthew Hieu Pham's parents decided it would be better to teach him Vietnamese first. So going into preschool, he was the poor little kid who couldn't speak a word of English and had no friends.  His teacher began to call him Matt, which was completely new to him since his parents always referred to him as Hieu.  But being the scholar he was, Hieu knew that mat was spelled with one t, like cat, rat, and bat.  So he corrected his teacher, and told her his name only had one, not two.  Ever since, no one dared argue with him, so since then, he has always been Mat Pham and Matthew Pham at the same time.  He has now dedicated his time to enriching the lives of his fellow Pitt students by being the vice president of the Veitnamese Student Association.  He also plays lacrosse for Pitt, is on the Vietnamese national team, studies microbiology, art, wants to be an oral surgeon.

Nhat Duong

Since freshmen year, VSA has provided for me with a solid outlet to share myself and my heritage with others. In the process, I've made lasting friends and benefited from many leadership opportunities. This year, I am the Historian which means I'm interested in capturing VSA moments to share with future VSA members.

I'll be graduating in the Spring with a undergraduate degree in Finance and a minor in Economics. I really enjoy traveling and learning new languages. In my free time, I like to read suspense novels and college sporting news. My favorite viet foods are Bun Bo Hue followed by Pho!
