It's time to get help!

Our tutoring program runs in a help desk way, whenever you need help you just stop by without previous reservation, & it's totally free!  For any exceptional cases you can contact the tutoring chairperson.

The tutoring takes place in Kamile Whiters Room at Clapp Hall (from the main entrance of Clapp Hall, after you cross the doorway leading to the right staircase the room will be to your right).

All our tutors are qualified to tutor intro biology classes, and we do offer upper classes tutoring as well, but the specific classes vary from semester to semester.

Becoming a Tutor

    *Regular BBB Tutoring:

If you would like to become a BBB tutor you need to meet certain requirements.  First, your QPA has to be 3.0 or higher, and you should have completed intro biology II.  For upper classes tutoring you need to have taken the class and successfully passed it with no less than B+.  All tutors including the ones that tutor for upper classes are expected to be tutors for intro biology I & II as well.

For more details of what to expect as a tutor and what you get from participating in this tutoring program you can check this file.  Click here for the application of an intro biology tutor, and here for upper class biology tutoring.  After completing the application contact the tutoring chair for further processing.

    *High School Tutoring:

For tutoring high school students we have started a coordination with the Engineering Career Access Program (PECAP) Pre-College Component Investing Now.  This program offers tutoring for well prepared high school students.  The tutoring takes place in Benedum Hall, Monday through Friday from 3pm to 7pm.  As a tutor you choose what times and days you are willing to tutor.  If you get involved with this tutoring program, you will still enjoy the benefits of a regular Tri-Beta tutor such as competing for the tutor of the semester award.

The requirements for this type of tutoring is that you have a good academic standing and be willing to help high school students.  If you meet such requirements then you can fill out this form and hand it in to the designated person with a copy of your transcript.  Also inform the Tri-Beta tutoring chair of that so that you can be considered as a Tri-Beta tutor as well.

We are very supportive of coordination among the different tutoring programs that are taking place at the University of Pittsburgh campus, so if you would like to start any coordination with us just let us know.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact us.
