Chapter History

April 19, 1969

Gamma Omega Chapter of Tau Beta Sigma was installed at the University of Pittsburgh. The Founding Mothers were Janice Baker, Arlene Barron, Andrea Kantor, Sharon Kotovsky, Jennie Roland, Mary Shirey, Peggy Walter, and Carmen Watson. Ohio University (AΔ) served as the  Big Sister chapter.

 

November 18, 1980

The sisters of ΓΩ relinquished their national status and became a local organization of the Pitt Band only. This new sorority was name Omicron Pi Alpha and was dedicated to serving the band in the same manner as TBΣ.

 

November 1, 1987

The Gamma Omega Chapter was reinstalled into the sisterhood. Clarion University’s Delta Omicron chapter was called upon to sponsor Gamma Omega during the recolonization. The sisters at the time were Jennifer Beidle, Melissa Herb, Backy Cump, Becky Locher, Jessica Reiser, Kelly Barrow, Victoria Erwin, Jamye Fiscus, Joan Grassell, Nicolette Liller, Wendy Mann, and Sherry Scheib. Lynn Severns, Linda Rittenhouse, Elaine Tatka, Toni Wilbon, and Dr. Mel Orange were initiated as honoraries.

 

February 5, 1995

The ΓΩ chapter initiated its first male sister, Ryan “J Ryan” Minster.

 

April 2007

Director of Bands Jack R. Anderson received the Distinguished Service to Music Medal from KKΨ.
