Greetings from Tau Beta Sigma! First and foremost, TBS is a national honorary band sorority. We recognize outstanding leadership, musicianship, and dedication to service through membership in our organization. We are committed to serving our University of Pittsburgh marching band, as well as the community. Some projects we do for the band include helping with uniform distribution, archiving old Pitt Band history, as well as raising money to benefit the band. Last year we raised over $1,000 which helped in buying brand-new shiny basses (sousaphones). In the community, we participate in music education events for children in downtown Pittsburgh, help girl scouts to get their music badges, and support disease research through the MS Walk. These are just a few of the events we do throughout the year. We are a group of college students dedicated to serving the band and community, yes. But through that service we form tight bonds with each other. We come together because we love to serve, but we stay together because through that service we see extraordinary and admirable qualities in each of us. When people come together to serve others, there is a great friendship formed. A sisterhood who served together deserves to play together, so we have a variety of social events that get us out into the city. For example, we go out to dinner, check out Pittsburgh museums, and hit-up local Kennywood. Tau Beta Sigma, for greater bands. Come serve, lead, and play with us!
