Oi!
To all you outdoors addicts, here’s to fueling your dependency:
So we had some rain, and while Gene Kelly (a Pitt alumnus) may be famous for Dancing in the Rain, Climbing in the Rain has never been quite as popular. But, have no fear, because the trips that were supposed to go out last weekend to Coopers will be heading out this weekend. Contact Cheryl for additional information on this trip (cjb26@pitt.edu).
Also for your enjoyment, there will be day hikes on Saturday and Sunday at Quebec Run. If you’d like to go, please contact Tom (tea7@pitt.edu). And while you may have been polishing your sneakers in anticipation of Sunday Field Games, they may have to wait, as equally exciting things will be occupying your time (ahem, one of our magnificent trips. C’mon, you didn’t think we meant homework).
And for upcoming weeks, put away your crystal ball, because we know where you’ll be: Saturday, September 16th will find you caving at Casparis or rafting at Ohiopyle. Sunday, September 17th we’re sensing climbing at the Lost Crag or rafting at Ohiopyle. Please contact Sarah (seg27@pitt.edu) for caving, and Jim (jrp44@pitt.edu) for rafting.
Now, many people may have talked to you about the issue of money and college, but we’d like to add an important message to what you already know. So, to recap, don’t get reeled in by credit card companies, “used books” at the University store only save you a couple of dollars (check out half.com), and you should always keep money in your account in case you should have a change to go skydiving. If you’re planning on having the thrill of your lifetime, the $35 deposit is due this coming Tuesday, September 12. Checks should be made out to Suzie Culhane (stc25@pitt.edu), cash should be made out to Uncle Sam.
Pool sessions for kayaking (we paddle about the pool and giggle) begin this Thursday and will be from 9 to 11 at Carnegie Mellon’s pool. If interested, please email Astrid Layton (acl15@pitt.edu).
DUES AND WAIVERS: as you can tell by the bold type, these are important. In order to participate in any of our trips, you must sign a waiver saying you’re responsible for you and then pay us $10 for the semester or $15 for the year. Trust us, it’s worth it.
Finally, if you’re cool, and if you’ve cast in your lot with us, it’s nearly a done deal, POC t-shirts and Nalgenes will confirm the fact, so support us and be cool: buy one.
On ALL trips be prepared to shoot each other… with cameras that is! We are updating the website (www.pittoutdoors.com) so send us your best!
