Needed Caving Gear
The Necessities:
- Long underwear: top and bottoms (synthetic works best)
- Wool socks (synthetic would also work well too, here)
- Jeans, BDU’s, coveralls, Carhardt’s, etc.
- Sweatshirt, fleece, long john tops, sweater (basically to keep you warm)
- Boots that come above the ankle (again, preferably synthetic)
- A garbage bag
- Water: either a Nalgene or just a normal water bottle
- Some sort of cave proof food (Snickers, Power Bar, PB & J sandwich, etc.)
- Extra batteries: AA’s (at least 4) or, if possible a flat cell battery
- At least two light sources, but really as many as you can get. Pen lights work fine too.
- A helmet (which can be provided by the club)
- A COMPLETE change of clothes (yes, that means underwear, shoes, and socks too)
- A pack to put your food, water, garbage bag, etc. (the club has 7 of these)
Optional stuff:
- Work or canvas gloves
- Knee and elbow pads
- A bandana
- A towel
- After-caving snack
