Dear Students, Faculty,
and Community,
Welcome to the Indian Subcontinent Organization at the
University of Pittsburgh. This organization is dedicated
to educating and promoting awareness of our South Asian
roots and our culture throughout the campus and community
to both Asians and non-Asians. As one of the largest
cultural organizations on this campus we strongly believe
that in order to achieve excellence we must help preserve
and promote our culture through many different activities.
In the past, community service, forums, dance competitions,
parties, charity events, educational programs, games,
sports, and so much more has made individuals more understanding
and educated about the beauty of our culture.
Our
vision for this 2005-2006 year revolves around the simple
fact that we want others to see that there can be unity
within the diversity of numerous cultures. We live in
one the few countries that contains so many rich cultures.
Let us now learn to take advantage of the experiences
that are given to us and grow from there. This organization
has grown so much in the recent years from past to present
members. Our board hopes that you all become a part
of ISA and truly experience the benefits that this organization
can bring to your own life. As Mahatma Gandhi wrote,
“You must be the change you wish to see in the
world.”
Please feel free to contact us with any comments or
suggestions we want to continue to grow and develop.
I wish you all good luck with your pursuits, goals,
and endeavors this year!
Yours truly,
Ginny Manocha and Samir Singh
2005-2006 Co-Presidents
