At the Ultimate Force Tournament on Sunday, December 3, 2006, we had several more members compete and place in both gi and no-gi divisions. In the gi brackets:

• Dave Galati: 1st blue-belt middleweight.
• Bryce Lee: 1st blue-belt heavyweight.
• Jimmy Cerra: 2nd blue-belt middleweight.

The following club members placed in the no-gi brackets:

• Dave Galati: 1st advanced light heavyweight.
• Randy Jones: 1st intermediate middleweight.
• Bryce Lee: 1st intermediate light heavyweight.
• Aaron Sikora: 1st novice lightweight.
• Jimmy Cerra: 1st advanced lightweight.
• Jon Chastek: 2rd novice lightweight.
• Pat Daley: 2nd novice welterweight.
• Jared Lioi: 3nd novice lightweight.

Mike Weiss, Mike Musser, and Mike Hansell also fought but didn't place in the top three. Congrats to everyone who stepped up to compete. It takes a lot of courage to compete for the first time.

At the Kim Judo Open tournament on Saturday, December 2, 2006 we had several members place:

• Eric Cyterski: 1st.
• Jimmy Cerra: 1st.
• Brian Cernic: 2nd.
• Phillip Lyons: 2nd.
• Warren Samules: 2nd.
• Mike Callahan: 3rd.
• Sam Taggart: 3rd.

All of them got promoted a grade in judo by Master Kim as well. Congratulations to everyone.

We invited the CMU Grappling Club for another meet called Oakland Throwdown 2 on November 11, 2006. Everyone showed a lot of determination and heart. The final results are that CMU won 44-6. The individual scores are:

• Kevin Smith (CMU) submitted Jonathan VanHoose (Pitt) by Kimura (video)
• Brad Freeman (CMU) defeated Mike Weiss (Pitt) by 11-4 (video)
• Andrew Moss (CMU) defeated Brian Cernic (Pitt) by 15-7 (video)
• Randy Jones (CMU) submitted Pat Daley (Pitt) by triangle choke (video)
• Brian Chin (CMU) submitted Tyson Tragon (Pitt) by armbar (video)
• Jared Lioi (CMU) submitted Zac Burd (Pitt) by armbar (video)
• Aaron Sikora (Pitt) submitted Jon Chastek (CMU) by arm triangle choke (video)
• Matt Snyder (CMU) submitted Simon Yeung (Pitt) by armbar (video)

At the end there were two superfights between the presidents of each club. Randy Jones is the president of the CMU Grappling Club, and Jimmy Cerra is the president of the Panther Grappling Club at Pitt. Randy fought for CMU because they didn't have enough people to match up against Pitt. The results of these matches were:

• No-gi: Jimmy Cerra defeated Randy Jones by 11-6 in triple overtime (video)
• Gi: Declared a draw after an 8 minute war (video)
