Driving Directions to the University of Pittsburgh Campus:

From the East
Cars traveling from the east via the PA Turnpike (I-76) should take Exit 6 to I-376 West. From 376 take Exit 7A, Oakland, onto Bates Street. Stay on Bates until it ends at Bouquet Street. Turn left onto Bouquet, then right at the first light onto Forbes Avenue. William Pitt Union will be the large red brick building on your left just before the next light.

From the West
Cars traveling from the west via the PA Turnpike (I-76) should take Exit 3 and follow I-79 South to I-279 South. (You exit to the left off I-79.) Follow 279 into the city, to the I-376 Monroeville Exit. Follow 376 to the Forbes Avenue/Oakland Exit. Forbes Avenue then leads right into the Pitt campus. After you pass under a pedestrian walkway, William Pitt Union will be the large red brick building on your left just before the next light.

From the North
Take I-79 South to I-279 South. (You exit to the left off I-79.) Follow 279 into the city, to the I-376 Monroeville Exit. Follow 376 to the Forbes Avenue/Oakland Exit. From the South
Follow I-79 North to the I-279 North Exit. Take 279 through the Fort Pitt Tunnels and across the bridge to the I-376 Monroeville Exit (first exit on the right). Follow 376 to the Forbes Avenue/Oakland Exit. Forbes Avenue leads into the Pitt campus. After you pass under a pedestrian walkway, William Pitt Union will be the large red brick building on your left just before the next light.

From the Pittsburgh International Airport
Exit Airport onto RT 60 South, head toward Pittsburgh (16 miles). Follow RT 279 North and continue as in directions for “From the SOUTH” just above.

Taking the 28X Airport Flyer Bus from the Airport:

Port Authority Transit (412.442.2000) provides a convenient bus from the airport to the Pitt Campus. Buses run every 20 minutes from before 6am until 10:45pm. The fare from the airport to the Pitt campus is $2.25.

At the airport, looks for signs or ask for the bus boarding area. The 28X is usually a shorter transit bus. Confirm with the bus driver before boarding. Tell the driver that you’ll be getting off at Bigelow Blvd. (see map) Buses are equipped with luggage storage areas but passengers are responsible for carrying luggage on and off the bus.
