A friend first introduced me to Ultimate when I was a sophomore in high school, inviting me to
come out to our school's (Wissahickon's) Ultimate Frisbee team. After going to more events I
decided to quit soccer in order to solely concentrate on getting better at this new and upcoming
sport around the globe. In my sophomore, junior, and senior years I was lucky enough to have
the opportunity to participate in the High School Eastern Championships. Also, in the summer of
2006 I took part in the Youth Club Championship, playing for a team made up from players in the
Illadel area. Between the long-lasting memories formed and multitude of friendships made I knew
that this was a sport a wanted to stick with in college.
After perusing through various colleges/teams I found that Pittsburgh Ultimate was the team that
would allow me to continue my quest in getting decent at Ultimate. I feel that I have learned
more about the game after only one semester here than in my entire high school career. The team
offers dedication, hard work, and determination to succeed, as well as many fun times along the
way. In addition, I found that every Vet on the team was extremely helpful in making the high
school to college transition easier, both on and off the field -- if you know what I mean. I
can't wait to play real college Ultimate, this year and for years to come.
P.S. There's a really sweet story behind the nickname "Chowder". Ask me about it.
