About
Engineers Without Borders (EWB) is
an International, non-profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to improving
the quality of life in developing local, and worldwide communities. EWB pledges
to address problems affecting health, sanitation, economy, technology and
education within these communities with an appropriate sustainable solution. To
ensure such projects their best chances of survival, correspondence with these
communities is maintained for no less than five years. To date, EWB-USA has
completed over 300 projects in 47 countries.

The University of Pittsburgh chapter of EWB was established
in the spring of 2006 by a handful of students wising to apply their skills and
resources and give to those in great need. EWB-PITT was recognized as an
official student organization and chapter of EWB-USA in the spring of 2007.
Today the group continues to grow and expand their reach with the guidance of
the local Pittsburgh Professional Chapter. The chapter is in the midst of their
first major project in Mali, Africa.
