Menachem Brodie

Menachem Brodie- NSCA-CSCS, USAC

Menachem, or “Brodie” as he is also known, graduated from Pitt with a Degree in Exercise Science, with a minor in Coaching. He has been coaching since 2002, starting with a very successful Basketball coaching career, and in the last 2 years has shifted his focus to endurance sports.

His Basketball coaching career includes stints with the Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh and the Falk School. He has attained over a .700 win percentage for all games coached, First place and Top 3 finishes in National, and International Competition, as well as back to back second place finishes in the Greater Pittsburgh Independent Basketball League.

While Coaching at the JCC, Brodie worked as a Manager, and Manager-Assistant Video Coordinator for the University of Pittsburgh’s Men’s Basketball Program from 2005-07. Both years the team made it to the NCAA tournament, with the 2006-07 season seeing the team reach the sweet sixteen.

After Graduation, Menachem interned for the University of Pittsburgh’s Strength and Conditioning Department for the 2007-08 school year, where he worked with the Olympic sports teams.

Following his internship, Menachem began to coach some of the Pitt Cycling Riders (including a 2nd place finish in Collegiate Triathlon Nationals in September 2008), and found himself giving advice to his fellow riders, as well as their friends. In the summer of 2008 he founded his company, Human Vortex Training LLC. (www.humanvortextraining.com).

In September of 2008, Human Vortex Training teamed up with Big Bang Bikes, and opened a studio at the Big Bang Bikes West Mifflin location, thus giving the Greater Pittsburgh Area its first full-circle-service bike shop. The Human Vortex Studio offers on-bike, and off-bike training, focusing on endurance sports such as cycling, triathlon, duathlon, ultra-endurance rides and runs, and also serves general fitness and sports conditioning populations.

Brodie’s coaching the Panther Cycling Club includes personalized training regimens for the club’s racers, lectures on various cycling topics, and general training/ nutrition/ weight training advice.
