About Us

The University of Pittsburgh's Society of American Archivists Student Chapter allows graduate students specializing in Archives and Records Management the opportunity to explore local and regional document repositories, discuss archival issues, and build networking contacts.

This year, we hope to visit many local academic, corporate, and governmental archives as well as other institutional repositories such as the reliquary at St. Nicholas Church, Gettysburg, and Iron Mountain. We hope to foster interdisciplinary cooperation by planning some of these events with the University of Pittsburgh's preservation group, Infinity.

The Society of American Archivists' Mission

Founded in 1936, the Society of American Archivists is North America's oldest and largest national archival professional association. SAA's mission is to serve the educational and informational needs of more than 4,600 individual and institutional members and to provide leadership to ensure the identification, preservation, and use of records of historical value.
