RAIL.
Amtrak has a convenient rail station in Greensburg and
some convenient trains, so consider taking The
Pennsylvanian or The Three Rivers from
Philadelphia or Harrisburg to experience the famous
Horseshoe Curve near Altoona. Go to www.amtrak.com.
BASIC
AUTO DIRECTIONS
The
University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg's campus is 10-12
minutes off the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-76) in South
Greensburg. Official address: 1150 Mount Pleasant Road.
- Leave the
Pennsylvania Turnpike at Exit 8 ("New
Stanton"), pay toll, and follow Route 119
North to Greensburg (6 miles).
- At the
intersection of Route 119 and Route 30, turn left
at the traffic light, swing over Route 119, and
follow Route 30 East (1 mile).
- Exit right at
the sign for Greensburg-Mt. Pleasant Road and
turn right after the stop sign.
MASTER
DIRECTIONS TO CAMPUS
- Follow Mount
Pleasant Road south for 8/10 mile. The campus
will be on your right.
- There are two
ways in. The first entrance
(Finoli Drive, stop light, before the fountain)
will take you to the parking lot for Millstein
Library (Oral/Aural Experience) and Smith Hall
(meals, Friday's plenary lecture); the second
entrance (Lynch Drive, after the
fountain) takes you to the Village Hall
(Thursday's plenary panel and all other panels).
A purling stream bisects the campus, hence the
need for two entrances for cars, but everything
is an easy walk from everywhere.
- Parking: There
is a new lot on the hill above Village Hall. Park
there on Friday. On Saturday, you can park in the
lots near Village Hall if you can find a space.
There will be no van on Saturday.
AIR.
Those who wish to fly may come into Pittsburgh
International airport (PIT), served by US Airways and
other airlines. US Airways Express also has flights to
Arnold Palmer Regional Airport in Latrobe (LBE) about 10
miles east of campus. To be honest, it's faster and
easier to rent a car at PIT than to take a limousine (why
not arrange to share a car with someone?).
