Welcome to the website of STUDIES IN SLAVIC CULTURES (SISC), a scholarly, illustration-friendly journal published by members of the Slavic Department at the University of Pittsburgh, with support from the Center for Russian and East European Studies. SISC consists entirely of analytical articles by graduate students, appears annually, runs to approximately 120 pages, and is devoted to Slavic culture.

The theme of SISC XI will be EVERYDAY LIFE. We welcome graduate-student submissions investigating any aspect of the topic in relation to Slavic verbal, visual, aural, written, or performative culture. The deadline for submission is January 15, 2012. Please follow the link at the bottom of this page for detailed submission and formatting guidelines.

SISC IX: ALTERNATIVE CULTURE is now available. SISC X: POSTMODERNISM is scheduled for issue at the end of 2011. Write to sisc@pitt.edu for information on ordering copies.

SISC is now indexed in ABSEES as an online journal.

Queries about SISC should be sent to Irina Anisimova, Natalia Ryabchikova and Elise Thorsen at sisc@pitt.edu.
