Susquehannah was fun. We ran at the York
Pointer and Setter Club again. Murph ran there several times before
and had taken a 3rd there in Open Derby at a Pointer trial. It was
good to see Darlene, Dave and the kids. They finally got to see Murph
run. This was to be different. I was happy with her getting
around clean, twice, both in the Open Gun Dog and in the Amateur Gun Dog,
though I was a bit disappointed that the judge in the Amateur didn't
like my being so far out in front of the judges, and more so, that my bracemate
was out there with me and her dog took 2nd. As I remember,
we had the same number of finds. Live and learn ! Her run was pretty
and she pointed nicely, steady to the flush and shot. Murph didn't have
the style or ground speed the next day in the Open. There was a lot
of scent from the day before and she spent too much time trailing and checking
objectives. She took very few lines for long casts. Next, I'm
going to concentrate on foot handling for the Futurity
and to get Murph ready for the ring, too.
