Shelome works on the prosodic properties of Caribbean Creole languages.  This includes a discussion of the phonological and phonetic properties of contrasting subtypes of reduplication in Jamaican Creole.  Related to this group, she is currently working on the acoustic-phonetic correlates of stress in Jamaican Creole.

Scott's research generally focuses on how social meaning is created through language. For this group, his focus on how phonetic variation is used to create social meaning. He's also interested in how phonetic variation is acquired, and all of of this affects the trajectories of language change.
