Assignment Description for Second Major Paper:

1. Using the in class writing from last Thursday and the days to come, and using Hornby’s essays (and maybe Schwerer’s) as possible springboards of inspiration, pick one (or more) song and write about it (or them) in a way that interests you.

2. Five pages, 15% of final grade, final draft with attached peer critique due Tuesday 2/20. First draft, over 3 pages, due next Thu the 15^th.

3. Create a lively voice, bring your personality to the page.

4. Conduct a meaningful analysis of a song that prompts you to explore questions and issues beyond that song.

5. Present music vividly to your reader. Use descriptive language to bring the song to life.
