Crime Alerts and Notification
In compliance with the federal Jeanne Clery Act, Pitt issues timely reports to the campus community on crimes—occurring on campus or adjacent to Pitt property—considered to be a threat to other students and employees. These reports take the form of Crime Alerts and Crime Notifications, which describe the nature, location, and time a crime occurred, along with precautions individuals should take to help prevent similar occurrences.
Crime Alerts are posted at visible locations on campus where affected students, faculty, and staff are likely to pass or congregate. Crime Alerts are also placed on the Pitt police Web page, submitted to campus media outlets, and may be broadcast through recorded telephone messages.
