

Drug and Alcohol Education Programs
Pitt complies with the federal Drug-Free Workplace and Drug-Free Schools Act. The University annually distributes information about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse and available alcohol and drug counseling, rehabilitation, and assistance programs to all students, faculty, and staff through mailings, the Student Code of Conduct, and Pitt's Web site.
The University of Pittsburgh Personal Education Assistance and Referral (PEAR) Program aims to reduce drug and alcohol abuse by:
Students may decide to participate in the PEAR Program voluntarily, or they may be referred as part of a disciplinary action. Completion of the program requires payment of $50 fee, attendance at three 90-minute education sessions, and one assessment interview.
Q: What are some other resources I can access for help with alcohol or substance abuse?
A: Pitt provides a full-time professional experienced with substance-abuse prevention. Anyone within the Pitt community is welcome to refer students or to call for educational services.
