The Schedule of Classes for the fall and spring terms is distributed approximately a week before the term's registration begins. (The Summer Term Schedule of Classes is published by the Office of University Summer Sessions.) In addition to information regarding all courses being offered at the University, there is a calendar for the term/session, a listing of locations and telephone numbers for academic centers and departments, instructions on how to fill in forms related to the registration and add/drop processes and a campus map. Each regional campus publishes its own Schedule of Classes. The Administrative Calendar, not to be confused with the Academic Calendar published by the Office of the Provost, is a calendar of pertinent dates and deadlines related to the academic and business processes that affect students, faculty, departmental offices and academic centers. The calendar is for the entire school year. Both calendars are also on the web. The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Informational Guidelines for the University of Pittsburgh Campuses pamphlet informs the University community of federal legislature which protects a student’s right to privacy. It also outlines some basic provisions of the act. FERPA is also referred to as the Buckley Amendment. (See Access to Student Educational Records--Policy 09-08-01 and Procedure 09-08-01.) |
