Welcome

Chapter 50 serves officers of the Sea Services (Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, Public Health Services, and NOAA) residing in western Pennsylvania and adjoining areas of Ohio and West Virginia. We have an active program of monthly chapter meetings, social events, and service to active reservists, NROTC units, and retirees.  All reserve officers are welcome to attend our meetings and other events.

CHAPTER 50 REGULAR MEETING

Regular chapter meetings will be held on the following Tuesday evenings

  • 19 October 2004

  • 16 November 2004

  • 7 December 2004

  • 18 January 2005

We will gather for sea stories at 1700 and the meetings will begin at 1730. These meetings will be at the Teutonia Maennerchor, located at the intersection of East Ohio and Chestnut Streets on Pittsburgh’s North Side. The Teutonia entrance and parking lot (free) are located on Phineas Street. Phineas is a one-way street that runs parallel to and one block north of East Ohio between Madison Ave. and Chestnut Streets.

Our 7 December meeting will be our annual remembrance of Pearl Harbor.

.CHAPTER 50 NROTC SUPPORT

Again this year, Chapter 50 plans to support our Navy's future offices by sending two Midshipmen to Mid-Winter and presenting an officer’s sword to one of the seniors graduating at the top of the NROTC program. It costs us $200 to send each student to Mid-Winter (the Department of PA also puts in the same amount) and the sword costs about $500. These activities are funded entirely from donations from our members. We also present medals and citations to outstanding students in the NROTC unit at CMU and the NJROTC units at Penn Hills High School. Anyone who has not already done so is asked to send us a donation for this project. Send it to CAPT Richard Croll, 1036 Betty Rae Dr., Pittsburgh, PA 15236. Phone: 412-653-7994 for info. These donations are tax deductible.
