Course Description
The purpose of this course is to introduce you to statistical concepts
and techniques and how to apply them in the "real world". The course
is built around S-Plus,
a computing envrionment for statistical and graphical data analysis.
Course Format
The class meets twice weekly and will be in a lecture format. Students
are expected to have read assigned materials before class. There will
be 2 exams (no comprehensive final). All exams are OPEN BOOK. About 3
or 4 homework assignments will be completed during the term, including a
gvroup assignment involving data gathering, statistical analysis, and
interpretation.
