The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act mandates the manner in which crime statistics are to be collected, and the format in which the statistics shall be published. Beginning in 1999, in addition to incidents reported to the University of Pittsburgh Police Department, statistics include offenses that were reported to the city of Pittsburgh police and to University of Pittsburgh officials having significant responsibility for student and campus activities.
