Community Outreach-
Oakland Business Improvement District (OBID)
The Oakland Business Improvement District is dedicated to improving the cleanliness, appearance, and perception of safety in Oakland, bringing about revitalization, preserving Oakland's unique commercial environment, and undertaking marketing and development initiatives to make Oakland a vibrant destination for visitors, residents, owners, employees, and students

West Oakland Community Council - A collaboration of law enforcement from City of Pittsburgh's zone 2 and 4, University of Pittsburgh Police, Carlow University Police, UPMC Security University officials, community leaders and residents joining together to enhance the safety of the West Oakland community.

Adopt-a-School Program - Mission Statement- To provide a comprehensive youth program that deals with multiple interrelated societal problems, including drugs, crime, gang and violence, in support of the FBI's "Adopt a School " Initiative in partnership with other Federal, state, county and local law enforcement, as well as human service agencies and business community.

Students Together Are Responsible (S.T.A.R.) - The S.T.A.R. Mentor Program, sponsored by the Initiative, is a curriculum that addresses and tries to dispel the "snitch" mentality in existence in our society today. By teaching students in elementary schools that reporting bad behavior is beneficial, not detrimental, children learn how acting responsibly in situations calling for adult intervention is beneficial to all involved.

Nuisance Bar Task Force - Working together with the City of Pittsburgh's NBTF, Pa. Liquor Control Board, and community leaders throughout the city, we are able to keep a pulse on bars that are a nuisance by reporting these incidents to the task force. Citations are issued and the establishment is placed on a watch list. If the conduct continues proceeding are implemented to close the establishment.

Job Fairs - This gives the public the opportunity to speak with an officers concerning the work environment, and the department's human resource representative. Job fairs are conducted at the University's main site and at various universities and institutions throughout the state.
