Matthew Pinsker, Ph.D.

Matthew Pinsker teaches history at Millersville University in Millersville, Pennsylvania. Previously he has taught both history and political ethics at Haverford College and at Gettysburg College. He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University and received his doctorate in Modern History from the University of Oxford where he attended Brasenose College on a full graduate scholarship. Pinsker has recently completed a book manuscript which analyses the behind the scenes activities that contributed to Abraham Lincoln's rise to power entitled, "The Race to Ambition: Abraham Lincoln and the Coming of the Civil War, 1849-1861."

Pinsker has published op-ed pieces in the Philadelphia Inquirer, Christian Science Monitor, and other newspapers, and has written review essays for other publications such as Civil War Times, Indiana Magazine of History, Journal of Southern History, and Virginia Quarterly Review. In addition, Pinsker is a partner at Jack Burden & Associates, a public policy research research firm and has extensive experience as a political consultant an campaign manager.
