Become a Member

Do you want to learn more about becoming a member of Pitt SWE? Email us at pittswe@gmail.com to be added to our mailing list. You will get updates about upcoming events, service opportunities, and network of people who support female engineers! Feel free to come to a meeting before emailing us. Pitt SWE welcomes all levels of participation, regardless of how many events you can attend. Anyone can join - freshmen, graduate students, math majors, males - everyone!

As a member of the University of Pittsburgh student section of the Society of Women Engineers, you have the opportunity to:

  • Attend general body meetings which often include free food.
  • Obtain professional skills. This includes learning interview etiquette, what to do at a co-op or job fair, and having your resume critiqued.
  • Create contacts with human resources, managers, employees, and other professionals from various companies in the Pittsburgh area.
  • Participate in a mentor/mentee program.
  • Interact with other females in engineering.

Societal Society of Women Engineers Membership

There is also the opportunity to become a societal member of the Society of Women Engineers. This requires either a one-time fee of $50 or a $20/year fee, depending on the membership type you select. For more information on membership types, visit SWE's website.

A societal membership includes:

  • Approval to put the Society of Women Engineers on your résumé.
  • Opportunities to attend regional and national SWE conferences.
