*Welcome to the University of Pittsburgh*

*Swanson School of Engineering!!!*

**

The University of Pittsburgh Section of the Society of Women Engineers (Pitt SWE) would like to extend a warm welcome to the Swanson School of Engineering! As fellow engineering students, we can assure you that Pitt is a great place to study and is a place where you will meet life-long friends. We understand that going from high school to college is a big transition both academically and socially, especially as females in engineering. Your support system is extremely important throughout this transition, and we would like to help you start building now.

The Society of Women Engineers is a student run organization (under national SWE) that provides mentorship, leadership, and networking opportunities for students in addition to the prospect of attending the SWE National Conference in Houston, TX this fall for FREE! We work to create a social environment where you can meet new friends and make a difference on campus and in the surrounding Pittsburgh community. You can be as involved in this organization as you choose, but SWE will always be there to support you.

If you would like to find out more information about Pitt SWE, please look around our website. If you have any questions about classes, dorms, college life, things to do, or anything else, please feel free to contact us at *pittswe@gmail.com* and someone will respond to you quickly.

Sincerely,
Lisa Volpatti and Sandy Liu
SWE President 2012-2013 and past SWE President 2011-2012

SWEepover

The primary purpose of the SWEepover is to help admitted female high school seniors experience life as a female engineering student at our diverse and energetic campus. This program helps students learn more about the fields of engineering and what life at Pitt is like in a two-day, one night experience. The 25-30 visiting girls are paired with freshmen and sophomore engineering hosts and spend in the night in an on-campus dorm. Various activities include campus tours, engineering lab tours, student panel Q&A, dinner at Joe Mama's, and game night at the Nordy's. The overnight stay always precedes a Day for Admitted Students which includes a Swanson School of Engineering presentation, campus walking tour, and Discover Pittsburgh bus tour.
