Patrice Rushen
Pianist Patrice Rushen served as musical director for the Janet
Jackson World Tour "Janet," was the first woman in 43 years to serve
as musical director for the Emmy Awards, and the only woman musical
director for the People's Choice Awards. She has composed musical
scores for motion pictures including Robert Townsend's Hollywood
Shuffle and Sandra Bernhard's Without You I'm Nothing, as well as the
television series "Jack's Place," "Brewster Place," "The Midnight
Hour," "Robert Townsend and His Partners in Crime" for HBO and the
special "Comic Relief V." After producing most of her own 11 solo
albums, this year she produced Sheena Easton's "The Nearness of You"
for the movie Indecent Proposal and Easton's No Strings
Album. Her most recent project was writing, producing and performing
a new solo album titled Anything But Ordinary. She is also
heard on Lionel Hampton's latest recording For The Love Of
Music on MoJazz.
