The Fair Judge and the Cruel Realist

Abstract: In this talk I will compare two different pictures of empirical support for scientific theories. I suggest that these differing pictures may underlie part of the disagreement between the scientific realist and the antirealist. I will illustrate the argument with the example of the Copernican revolution.
