Richard Scaglion

Professor

Richard Scaglion received his PhD from the University of Pittsburgh in 1976. He is a cultural anthropologist, specializing in the study of the Pacific Islands.

He is particularly interested in tribal societies, in anthropological theory and method, and in legal anthropology: the study of human conflict and how it is managed.

Much of his field research has been conducted in Papua New Guinea among the Abelam people.
