S. government organization that sends volunteers around the world for 27 months to help train the work force in other countries and to create cultural understanding between the U. S. and the world. There are currently 7,749 Peace Corps volunteers working in 73 countries in fields such as environmental preservation, education, health, business development, agriculture, and community services. Peace Corps volunteers help countless individuals build a better life for themselves, their children, and their communities. Volunteers receive extensive training, health coverage, transportation, housing, a stipend for basic living expenses, school loan deferment and other benefits at the end of service. This office provides information and support during the regular academic year to those residing or studying in wetern Pennsylvania who are interested in becoming a Peace Corps volunteer.
