Instructions to Nominate Individuals from the
University of Pittsburgh for Limited Submission Programs

Some sponsors choose to place a restriction on the total number of nominees/applications submitted per institution, school and/or discipline.

When this limitation is stipulated in the program guidelines, an internal review and selection process is necessary to select the best-qualified candidate(s) to represent the University. This procedure begins with Dr. George E. Klinzing, Vice Provost for Research, issuing a letter usually to the deans of the applicable schools. They are to notify the appropriate individuals/department chairs of the upcoming open solicitation. In Dr. Klinzing's letter, a special deadline is set for the receipt of nominations for the INTERNAL review process. In cases where there are two or more nominations/ applications received for a specific solicitation, an ad hoc committee is convened to make selection recommendations.
