Note: The
programs identified in the deadline and agency sorts are current and
archived programs for special awards/opportunities
that
place a
limit
on the
number of individuals
or proposals
the University
of Pittsburgh can submit. Some sponsors choose to place a restriction
on the total number of nominees/applications submitted per institution, school
and/or discipline.
When this limitation is stipulated in
their program guidelines,
an internal review and selection process is necessary to select the
best-qualified candidate(s)/proposal(s) to represent the University.
This selection process begins with Dr.
George E. Klinzing, Vice Provost for Research, issuing a letter usually
to the deans of the applicable schools who then notify appropriate faculty/department
chairs of this special opportunity and of the limited eligibility requirement.
In Dr. Klinzing's letter, another deadline is set for receipt of specific
information to be used during the internal university
review process. In cases where there are more nominations/applications
received than stipulated by the sponsor, an ad hoc committee is convened
to make selection recommendations.
