at the University of Pittsburgh

eRA Project Status

The University of Pittsburgh's Office of Research has chosen InfoEd International Inc. for the provision of software and services to manage the University's grants and contracts over their complete life span.

InfoEd International is the leading provider of software solutions in the world of electronic Research Administration (eRA). InfoEd's comprehensive web-based modules will enable our University's research faculty and administrators to efficiently maneuver through and complete each step of the grant and contract process seamlessly. Implementation of this powerful eRA system will significantly streamline the University of Pittsburgh's management of sponsored research.

Other customers of InfoEd include: University of Pennsylvania, University of California at Los Angeles, University of Illinois, Temple University and Columbia University.

Software Deployment

The University of Pittsburgh has purchased two of InfoEd's dynamic eRA modules: Proposal Tracking and Proposal Development.

Proposal Tracking (PT) - The PT module allows Office of Research staff to record, track, and report on research in a manner that reflects how research is actually conducted at a major research institution. Proposal Tracking will replace legacy systems and allow tracking of entire projects instead of individual funding increments. Thus, management will be able to view, at a glance, the entire history of a project, from initial submission to closeout. Eventually, Proposal Tracking will be interfaced with several other University databases to allow for greatly enhanced reporting and administration.

Proposal Development (PD) - The PD module allows for the creation, review and submission of grant applications and contracts via a powerful web interface. This module will enable investigators to electronically route a proposal through our institution's internal signature process and will ultimately allow them to submit the proposal electronically to the sponsoring agency.

Deployment Stages

  • Stage 1 - Proposal Tracking Module - The Office of Research has reached its first major milestone with the recent deployment of the Proposal Tracking module. Although Proposal Tracking will be used primarily by the Office of Research to administer proposal data, enhancements that will benefit the entire research community, such as automated award notices, will be incorporated.
  • Stage 2 - Proposal Development Module - The Office of Research is rolling out use of Proposal Development to Departments.
