 Admissions & Financial Aid

Admissions Timeline

July - August

Visit the campus(es) your child is considering. Attend a formal event or schedule an individual visit. The University of Pittsburgh offers several different events in the summer, including:

- Saturday Information Sessions, which take place in the morning and are immediately followed by a campus walking tour.

- “So You Want to Be” events, which offer students with a specific academic interest about the opportunities available at the University of Pittsburgh.

- Summer Friday Overnights, which provide prospective students with a taste of actual campus life by spending a night in the residence halls and attending a Getting Ready program.

- Getting Ready programs, which provide an opportunity for students, parents, and guests to experienve the University of Pittsburgh by meeting with representatives from different schools and departments, taking a bus tour of the city, a walking tour of the campus, and more.

For more information or to register for any upcoming events, visit the On Campus Programs page.

September - November

Submit your application for admission. You can apply online to the University of Pittsburgh through the “Applying” webpage. Make sure to read over the “Freshman Admission Process” first to familiarize yourself.

Take your senior SAT or ACT.

Visit your top two or three choices again, even if you did so in the summer, because a campus full of students feels a LOT different from one that is close to vacant. When visiting for the second time, make sure to attend a class, meet with a professor, stay overnight in a residence hall, talk to a coach, i.e., learn about the things that are important to YOU.

January - June

If you wish to be considered for scholarships, submit your application before the January 15 deadline.

Apply for need-based financial aid by submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) before the preferred filing date of March 1.

Attend the Day for Admitted Students in March.

Pay your enrollment deposit on or before May 1.

Submit your completed housing contract (check the date provided on the contract).

Sign up for a summer PittStart session.

Submit your final high school transcript by July 1.
